Allen County Stop Arm Campaign

ABOUT

Every school year in the United States there are approximately 15 million stop arm violations reported by bus drivers. In Allen County alone there are an average of 200 stop arm violations reported a day. IT HAS TO STOP! 

In the Spring of 2019, East Allen County Schools, Fort Wayne Community Schools, Northwest Allen County Schools and Southwest Allen County Schools at the request of the Allen County Safe Schools Commission joined forces to create the Slow. Stop. Stay. campaign to educate the public.

Following the tragedy in Rochester, Indiana in 2018, state legislators passed a bill to strengthen consequences for drivers who disregard stop arms while buses pick-up and drop-off students. While this new legislation provides stiffer consequences for charged drivers, it also prompts the need for increased awareness about the legal rules of the road surrounding school bus safety.
